	Parish Staff
	Fr. Thomas A. Libera Pastor Fr. Tom became pastor of St. Athanasius Parish in September 1998. His promise to the parishioners was to first and foremost search out, speak about and then help celebrate the ways that Jesus Christ lives in and directs this gathering of believers. His most recent assignment before coming to St. Athanasius was at Our Lady of the Woods in Orland Park. In Fr. Libera's thirty years as a priest he has also served as pastor of Resurrection and St. Martin De Porres Churches. Other Chicago assignments include Our Lady of Mercy and St. Ladislaus plus St. Eulalia in Maywood. He also served a term as Chairperson of the Association of Chicago Priests.
	Fr. Richard Sztorc Associate Pastor Fr. Rich grew up on the northwest side of Chicago, and St. John Bosco Grammar School and Quigley Preparatory Seminary for four years. His class attended Niles Jr. College for two years and then went on to St. Mary of the Lake Seminary in Mundelein. He completed his two years of college and four years of theology at St. Mary of the Lake, and was ordained at the Seminary Chapel on May 14, 1969. His first assignment was at St. John Berchmans Parish in Logan Square, where he served for five years. He then was assigned to St. Martha Parish in Morton Grove. During his six years there, he was a supervisor for seminary transitional deacons. He spent five years at St. Ann in Lansing, Illinois, and then moved back north to Our Lady of the Brook in Northbrook, where he served with the founding pastor, Fr. Bob Herne, for six and a half years. Upon Fr. Herne's retirement, Fr. Rich became pastor and served there for an additional twelve years. He took a six-month sabbatical - for three of those months he was at Vatican II Institute, a sabbatical program with a holistic approach for updating priests in pastoral ministry, which is part of St. Patrick Seminary in Menlo Park, California. Returning from his sabbatical, he served briefly at St. Ita in Chicago and then at St. Dismas in Waukegan. Fr. Rich joined us here at St. Athanasius in July, 2005.
